Retreats

I have partnered with the folks at Il Baciarino, Italy, to offer two retreats at their gorgeous property and studio this winter.
Pottery Retreats are long slow opportunities to grow as a person and as an artist. Each day is divided into studio time and time to relax. During studio time, we delve into the various topics covered in the retreat. During relaxation time, we take cooking classes, relax in the spa, visit the beach and local towns, learn Italian, and chill out. Class time is balanced with savouring all that Tuscany has to offer.

TECHNIQUES TAUGHT

Each retreat combines a blend of making and firing. Time is also set aside for sketching, gathering inspiration, and critiquing work made.

TEACHING METHOD

As part of signing up for a retreat, you are asked to send a portfolio of your current work and the ways you hope to grow during the retreat. From there, a learning plan is created for the group. Each day includes demonstrations, individual guidance, and group discussions.

PREREQUISITES

In these retreats, previous experience with clay is useful, but not necessary.

LOGISTICS

Maximum 10 participants.
